Keep a bug-out bag always packed, and you’ll be able to get your hide outside with a moment’s notice. Never head off on an adventure without the items shown in bold. They’ll keep you healthy and safe if you get lost or have an accident. Items shown in plain type will make exploring more fun, but they aren’t essential.

  • Bug spray
  • Camera
  • Rope
  • Field guides
  • First-aid kit
  • Compass
  • Binoculars

  • Flashlight
  • Water bottle (Make sure it’s full)
