COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites the public to a free program on fire making and outdoor cooking on April 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the developing Boone County Nature School located on the MDC Three Creeks Conservation Area south of Columbia at 8805 S. Tom Bass.

Cooking outdoors is a great complement to many other outdoor activities. Whether camping, fishing, hunting, or enjoying the backyard, this program will add another element to participants’ outdoor experiences.

Participants can learn how to cook a hearty dinner outside in a Dutch oven. MDC presenters will give tips on how to pack ingredients for a campsite Dutch oven meal, how to cook those ingredients, and how to care for Dutch ovens. MDC will provide Dutch ovens, but participants are invited to bring their own. After dinner is prepared and cooked, participants can enjoy the results along with s’mores over an open fire.

For more information, contact MDC Conservation Educator Ashley Edwards at Ashley.Edwards@mdc.mo.gov or 573-522-4115 ext. 3420.

Space is limited. All attending must register in advance at mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/183733
