KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites family farm landowners to a farm legacy workshop in Kirksville on Jan. 25. Landowners who own a farm or forest may have strong feelings about leaving their land in good condition for the next generation. This farm legacy workshop will take place 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the MDC Northeast Regional Office at 3500 S. Baltimore St. in Kirksville.

The workshop will help landowners identify needs for their property and family, understand estate taxes, wills and trusts, how to communicate goals with family heirs, navigating long-term healthcare considerations, conservation easements, and how to assemble a succession planning team.

David Watson, a financial planner at D.A. Watson and Company, and Hank Stelzer, from University of Missouri Extension will speak at the workshop and make themselves available to answer questions and discuss concerns.

MDC encourages families to attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. MDC offers this workshop at no cost to participants, but space is limited, and registration is required by visiting mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/171352, or contacting MDC Forester Yvette Amerman at (660) 785-2420.
