MDC hosts Discover Nature Schools teacher training workshop at Powder Valley Nature Center July 9

KIRKWOOD, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Discover Nature Schools (DNS) program is a win-win opportunity for both educators and students.  It provides high quality science units designed to meet the needs of teachers while preparing Missouri's students to become life-long conservationists through hands-on experiences in nature.

To help introduce area teaches to the program, MDC is providing a DNS workshop Monday, July 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center.

During this one-day workshop, teachers will learn how to be successful with the DNS unit appropriate to their grade levels they teach, including Pre-K, grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 or 9-12. This workshop also fulfills the training requirement for teachers to participate in the DNS Grant Program to fund exploration equipment, outdoor classroom materials, and transportation for field experiences.

This DNS workshop is certified by the Missouri Environmental Educational Association.
