MDC offers deer habitat management tour near Jamesport

Jamesport, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a seminar and tour devoted to improving and managing habitat for deer from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the Ivan Miller farm southeast of Jamesport.

Land owners and property managers are invited to learn about how wildlife management co-ops can benefit deer herds. Farm tours of habitat improvements that help deer will be offered. Experts will also talk about management issues such as antler-point restrictions and the value of collecting harvest information. Brian Towe of the Quality Deer Management Association will be a featured speaker.

Both Mechlin and Roy are private land specialists for MDC and work with property owners or managers to help keep Missouri a great place to hunt and fish.

To reach the seminars and habitat tours, take Missouri 190 south from Jamesport 2.2 miles; turn east on Nickell Avenue on go almost a mile, and the farm is on the north side of the road.
