MDC offers these free trainings for anyone age 14-years or older who is passionate about educating youth. In the training, participants will learn about the DNF curriculum, how to teach each lesson, and the materials and teaching tools offered by MDC. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook, a writing utensil, and a snack, if desired.

“We are looking for people who have a passion for fishing and outdoor activities, and who are willing to share that passion with others,” said MDC Fisheries Management Biologist Travis Moore. “Becoming a Discover Nature Fishing instructor is a great way to share your knowledge and experiences with kids and families who are interested in the same things you are. And it is a great way to learn something new as you work with and interact with other instructors and MDC staff.”

MDC’s DNF program helps Missourians of all ages gain the skills and confidence to go fishing on their own. MDC relies on experienced anglers in northeast Missouri to help kids and families learn fishing skills that can help foster a lifetime of enjoyment and appreciation for Missouri’s outdoors.
