DEFIANCE, Mo. — The temporary shutdown of the rifle/pistol booths at the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) August A. Busch Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center originally scheduled for May 13 will no longer be necessary. Rifle and pistol shooters will experience no disruption of service.

The closure was intended to accommodate a maintenance project, but thanks to MDC crews working extended hours to expedite the project, the effort was completed ahead of schedule and the need for the shutdown has been avoided.

The range will continue to operate under its summer schedule of Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Thursday from 1 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The range is closed Monday and Tuesday each week for maintenance and special programs.

The Busch Shooting Range is located at 3550 Route D in Defiance, approximately five miles west of Highway 94. Shooters can keep informed about range happenings by texting “MDC Busch” to 468311 and signing up for text alerts.
